Florida Legislature Reaches Milestone of 100 Proposed Redistricting Maps from Floridians

Thursday, October 20, the Florida Legislature received the 100th redistricting map from a Florida resident.  Ten years ago, during the previous redistricting, the Legislature received only 4 redistricting maps from the public.  Visit MyDistrictBuilder’s YouTube page at to view the video announcement about this milestone, and click here to view the press release from today’s announcement. 

Here are some facts about the 100 redistricting maps submitted thus far:

  • Submitted by residents of 25 different counties.
  • More than 2,600 total districts submitted.
  • At least 17 maps from students, including middle school, high school and college students.
  • 30 complete maps for Congress; 20 partial maps for Congress; 8 complete maps for the State House; 15 partial maps for the State House; 17 complete maps for the State Senate; 10 partial maps for the State Senate.
  • 67 of the maps were created with the Florida House’s MyDistrictBuilder application; 15 with the Florida Senate’s District Builder; 6 with Maptitude; 10 with Dave’s Redistricting Application; and 2 with ESRI.
